running on ice

18 minutes 19 seconds

it's about this time of year where i find myself wishing i had never moved to chicago. the winters are so very, very, VERY long, and i am a huge, huge, HUGE wimp when it comes to cold weather.

and then a day like today rolls around, and i remember exactly why i love this city. the skies were blue, the air was crisp, the flowers were blooming, and there were so many people roaming around the city. it just doesn't get much better than days like today.

sb and i decided to go off our normal lakefront path course and instead ran north on sheridan. at one point, sb
asked if we ran this street during the chicago marathon last year, which we did. as i started thinking back on that day, i vividly remembered the desperation i felt while i was running up that street, praying for some sort of fluids. and then, we came upon the reflecting pool at 3550 n. lakeshore. that was where a bunch of us dunked our heads in and some people drank the water from it.

i thought i'd dedicate the picture in this post to chicago marathon race director carey pinkowski. carey - you said there was plenty of fluids on the course - i guess i just didn't think high rise reflecting pools counted.
