running on ice

a little slow these days...

...in more ways than one.

slow because i can't seem to remember to update my blog after my workouts.

slow because i'm so out of shape, i'm getting passed by EVERYONE on the track at bally's.

not too discouraged though. i know i'll get it back eventually - it'll just take time. from what i remember, i ran on monday and tuesday of last week and then did the bike on thursday.

this week, i did pilates yesterday and ran around 23 minutes today. why 23 minutes you ask? i just decided i wanted to stop. i have no idea why...just wanted to stop.

oh, and i finally bought new shoes. i had no idea how worn out my old ones were until my first lap in the new ones. then every lap after that my feet hurt from trying to adjust to all the cushioning.

tonight: dinner and a moooooooovie

25 minutes

since i've been so out of the running/blogging groove, i forgot that i'm supposed to make a mental note of the first song on my shuffle. the only song i really remember was "american idiot" by green day - that song was actually playing at last year's shamrock shuffle around mile 2, and it carried me through the rest of the race.

lifted upper body tonight. still wishing all of this extra weight would fall off a little faster. however, i did at least make it for 25 minutes - the longest run i've done since september...ouch.

tomorrow: rest day (class)
thursday: bike? elliptical? both? lift abs, back, legs

shuffling to the shuffle

nothing of great interest to report. i figured i should just get on record for future reference that i've been doing a bit of working out lately. i've been doing a little running (two days for 15 minutes; one day for 20 minutes), a little lifting and had one day of getting my ass kicked by my own sister at her kickboxing class (i'm not sure how we're related - she's entirely too motivated).

so i guess my first race back from injury and laziness will be the shamrock shuffle. i'm not expecting to run as fast as i did last year because i'm far more out of shape and have gained a lot of weight. i guess the goal will be 50 minutes.

tonight: gym (some sort of cross training, lift upper body, abs)
tomorrow: rest
